Retrofitting Bose in a Pre Facelift S8

Post by Night Train on Fri May 14, 2010 1:35 pm

Hi All,
My next project is to consider, then hopefully retrofit the Bose option in my '8', has anybody done this, and is there a write up somewhere.
Quite frankly, if I were closer, I'd probably visit A8 Parts for the job, but that's a hell of a long way from here....

Any pointers?

Thanks
Richard.

It's do-able, but you'd need a whole load of wiring to run.. Smile

Aha!
I've just received the parts for the Bose upgrade from our friends at A8 Parts, Yes, I can see that there's quite a bit of interior stripping to be done (and boot also) when I laid out the loom on one of my lounge floors and examined the parts......

Will keep all posted, but its likely to be a while before I fet the time to fit the kit.

If anyone's done this before - did they leave the original wiring in place?

Regards

Richard.

Progress so far (in between a million & one other jobs)

Mounted the amp (under the auto changer/ nav unit), and have run the Bose loom into the cabin (coiled up under the back seat), and under the parcel shelf... fitted Bose shelf speakers, and run that part of the loom back into the boot on the battery side, to the power take off point (fuse removed) and to an earth point by the battery. Have tidied the loom up with some coroplast wiring loom tape.

Now I can reassemble my boot trim...... had to do this, as it seems I've just sold my old Pajero (Shogun) workhorse, and this was where I was keeping the parts from the '8'!

Conclusion, a couple of skinned knuckles, net curtain wires are really useful as wire 'pull throughs', miscreant discs are acting up tonight - still have a semblance of my sense of humour left.

Its getting there....

Keep us posted fella, and when you've completed, if you could do a "how to" we can put it into a technical section Happy

Good luck, I'm so pleased I've already got it fitted Razz

Will do Tony, have already started the write up.........

Just trying to work out how the cabin & door trims come apart now..... a little stymied at the moment, but I'll get there eventually no doubt....
